2016 was a rather eventful year. I graduated with an Bachelors in Electronics Engineering and embarked on a journey to become a UX Designer. I'll tell you 'why'!
Although I come from an Electronics Engineering background, I was always piqued by human behavior and psychology. People have always intrigued me. I've enjoyed analyzing what they say and do - be it my friends or people I just met. They may say one thing but do something different - including myself. But 'why', I've wondered. Coming to think of it, I've always asked 'why', I just was not always conscious of it. Upon graduating, I was hired to work for Bank of New York Mellon as a software developer. The 'why' phenomenon continued as I learned web development practices. As I was about to step into the world of web development, I came across the field of 'UX Design'. The 'Structure' that Engineering brings to the 'Abstract' (not really) graphic design combined with 'understanding' people was more interesting than expected. This was my 'Eureka' moment. I decided to take the plunge into UX in 2016 and haven't looked back since.
For the next 3 years, since 2016, I worked as a UX Designer at the Bank of New York Mellon designing B2B and B2C financial products. In 2019, I moved to the US for taking up a Masters degree in Human Computer Interaction at Indiana University Bloomington. Design as a field has been quenching my thirst to combine analytical and critical thinking and a love for people & pixels to craft meaningful digital experiences.
I am currently a Product Designer at Flexport, seeking my next full time UX Design opportunities and will be available to start as soon as possible.
Design processes may not be linear always. My process usually involves research, design and testing iteratively which each of the steps not necessarily following one after the other. Most of it is highly dependent on the type of project and the timeline for project completion.
